After Taylor Swift had to cancel three tour dates in Austria due to a terrorist threat, authorities say the main suspect has confessed to their harrowing plans. Taylor Swift canceled her scheduled Eras Tour dates in Vienna after the arrest of two suspects who planned to unleash a terrorist attack on the shows. According to Austrian officials, the main suspect has confessed to plans to “kill as many people as possible outside the concert venue.” Officials say the 19-year-old suspect pledged allegiance to the Islamic State after being radicalized online. Austria’s Head of the Directorate of State Security and Intelligence said the main suspect wanted to employ knives or homemade explosives for the planned attack outside the stadium. This all comes just about a week after the fatal stabbing of multiple children at a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga event in the U.K. Back in 2019, Taylor described situations of violence like these, the mass shooting at a Las Vegas music festival and the Manchester bombing as her “biggest fear.” According to authorities, I.S. and Al-Qaeda materials were reportedly found in the home of the second 17-year-old suspect, who was reportedly hired earlier this week by a company that provides services to the venue. A spokesperson for the singer has not yet responded in regards to the five shows scheduled for next week in London. Authorities have reportedly ramped up security for the London dates.
