The Drake and Kendrick feud is back in the news. First, ScHoolboy Q mentioned the beef when he took to X to announce that the first stop of his Blue Lips Weekend tour, which happened to be in Toronto at a venue called History that is co-owned by Live Nation and Drake, had been canceled.

Now, DJ Akademiks — who’s been a source of information when it comes to Drake these days — claims the Canadian rapper has some subliminals directed at Lamar on the way.

Trending on Billboard

“It’s sneak dissin’ time. It’s really never over. I can’t wait to hear the first sneak diss,” he said during a stream on Rumble. “Matter of fact, I won’t even tell y’all what I heard but the first sneak diss Drake got that’s dissin’ Kendrick, how he positions it, that’s going to be interesting.”

Billboard has reached out to Drake for comment.

A couple weeks back, Akademiks tweeted that Drake wasn’t finished and that he has new music on the way. “All u n—s who been acting like Drake finished… bookmark this tweet for 6 months from now,” he wrote on X. “We dont want u n—s no where near us……Remember that.”

He then followed that up with a tweet saying, “and yes.. enjoy all the other noise and bs.. Drake new music otw. and its fye…. trust.”

While Kendrick Lamar didn’t formally respond to Drake’s “The Heart Part 6,” he performed multiple diss songs at his Juneteenth Pop Out concert and released a music video for “Not Like Us” that features him beating down an owl piñata and ends with an owl in a cage in reference to Drake’s OVO logo.

There have been fans who feel Lamar and his supporters are running the West Coast anthem into the ground, with Steph Curry being the most notable. The popular NBA player complained about having to hear the same song so much after the arena DJ played “Not Like Us” after the USA Basketball team beat Nikola Jokic’s Serbia team in Abu Dhabi.

“Damn with this song. It’s not the only song in America,” the NBA’s all-time 3-point leader said to his Olympic teammate LeBron James, who disagreed and replied, “I love it.”
