Snoop Dogg Calls Women’s 200M Medalists to Congratulate Them on Track & Field Win at Olympics
Snoop Dogg has been everywhere in Paris at the 2024 Summer Olympics, and has stolen the show over and over again. But the Doggfather took some time out of his busy schedule and gave the women who medaled at the 200m race a surprise phone call on Wednesday (Aug. 7).
Two Americans were at the podium, with superstar Gabby Thomas taking home gold, Brittany Brown holding the bronze and St. Lucia’s Julien Alfred winning silver.

“Thank you, oh my goodness,” Thomas said in the video shared on USA Track & Field‘s Facebook account when realizing it was Snoop on the other line giving them props. The rapper said, “I’ll cry when you cry … Great job ladies. Great job. Way to go!”
Brown seemed to be the most ecstatic out of the bunch as she explained how she grew up in Cali about 46 miles from Snoop’s home of LBC. “Snoop Dogg?!” she said in shock. “Snoop Dogg, I know you have a team in Pomona, Calif. I’m from Pomona … I’m just letting you know I’m from Pomona. IE, Pomona.”
“You already know — most definitely,” Snoop continued. “Y’all made me proud today.”
Snoop Dogg’s music even found its way into an Olympic contest. Team Canada’s swimmers choreographed a routine to Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s “The Next Episode” for their artistic swimming competition.
“Ay, shout-out to Canada,” Snoop said after seeing the clip for the first time during one of his segments on NBC. “I didn’t know I left that kind of impression when I did my tour over there, but I love y’all ladies. Way to go. I was over there about two months ago. I was on tour. … Thank you ladies, I appreciate the love.”
“The Next Episode” arrived in July 2000 and landed on Dr. Dre’s 2001 album. The anthem went on to peak at No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.
With just a few days left of the Olympics, Snoop will continue to add highlights to his epic run as a correspondent for NBC at the Summer Games. Watch the phone call to the track stars on Facebook and check out the artistic swimming video here.
