Taking place in 1970, the film follows Paul Hunham (Paul Giamatti), a grouchy instructor at a New England prep school who remains on campus during Christmas break to supervise a handful of students with nowhere else to go. What he doesn’t expect is to form an unlikely bond with the school’s brainy yet troublemaking student Angus (Dominic Sessa) as well as the school’s head cook Mary Lamb (Da’Vine Joy Randolph) who just lost her son to the Vietnam War.

Other cast members in the movie include Carrie Preston, Brady Hepner, Ian Dolley, Jim Kaplan, Michael Provost, Andrew Garman, Naheem Garcia, Stephen Thorne, Gillian Vigman and Tate Donovan.
